But they’re not actually required to release the full financial nitty-gritty until the 20th of the following month–meaning that crucial information, like how much money is actually available for the primary battle versus how much is off-limits until the general election, is often hidden from view until long after reporters have moved on to other, shinier objects....

Doctors have recommended Lee undergo surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his elbow, but he is trying to avoid that. He has been shut down from throwing, and will be periodically evaluated by the team to determine when he can begin throwing again. If surgery becomes necesarry, the 36-year-old lefty will almost certainly miss the entire 2015 season. This could become a carrer-threatening injury even if he does undergo surgery....

What Bush did in his speeches this week is the national-security version of the perp walk. By rolling out a rogue’s gallery of scary-looking Middle Eastern men, Bush transformed a debate about a ruinous war in Iraq into hand-to-hand political combat over which party has captured more bad guys. Given Bush’s sorry record and all the other conversations the media could be having, the renewed emphasis on terrorism is good news for Republicans....

Experts say that climate change, an aging power grid and an ever-growing demand for electricity will create bigger and more frequent outages across in the nation in coming years.
